The Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Unit of BFAR XI, headed by Ms. Christie Mae B. Ranque, facilitated a collaborative meeting with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XI. This gathering, held on April 30, 2024, aimed to improve the accuracy and reliability of fisheries data in Davao region, with representatives from both agencies coming together to address pertinent issues and concerns.

Led by OIC Regional Director, RD Relly B. Garcia spearheaded a significant collaborative meeting with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) XI, known for its pivotal role in generating precise and dependable data across various sectors of the Philippine economy, including the fisheries sector.

It was attended by notable figures including the representatives from PSA XI headed by Ma’am Adeleine G. Batucan (Supervising Statistical Specialist), along with Ms. Josie A. Calibjo (Statistical Specialist II), Ms. Kristel Rose L. Namocatcat (Regional Focal Person for Fisheries Sector) and Mr. Adrian Lupo M. Ebero (Alternate Focal Person). Meanwhile, BFAR XI was ably represented by the respective City/Provincial Fisheries Officers, and Ms. Sharon M. Baidiango (OIC of Fisheries Production and Support Services Division) and staff. Moreover, the meeting served as a venue to address pressing issues and concerns that required clarification from both implementing agencies.

Meanwhile, the afternoon session was earmarked for a separate meeting focused on the Farmers and Fisherfolk Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2) Program of the Department of Agriculture XI. Ms. Shynette Clyde Peralta, F2C2 Alternate Focal, and Ms. Shiryle Estoque, PDO, represented the program in discussions centered around refining the implementation guidelines for the fisheries sector.

The collaborative efforts between BFAR XI and PSA XI signify a commitment to enhancing the accuracy and reliability of fisheries data in the Davao region.
