HISTORY
The National Stock Assessment Program (NSAP) was first conceptualized in 1995 by Mr. Noel C. Barut, who was then the chief of the Pelagic Section of the Fisheries Resources Research Division of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. He is regarded as the “Father of NSAP.” With the transfer of the BFAR’s statistics function and personnel to the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics in 1988 and subsequent change in mandate, Mr. Barut saw the need for BFAR to establish its own landed catch and effort monitoring system to generate data that could be used for capture fisheries management.
National Stock Assessment Program - Interactive Atlas
NSAP Interactive Atlas is a start up web application anchored on the activities and results of NSAP created using modern web technologies to provide public information on the status of Philippine fisheries.
It provides the latest available monitored landed catch data of the country that can be used by the industry, policy makers, researchers, students, fisheforlks and other stakeholders, hence, made accessible to the public at varying degrees of access, managed by NFRDI and BFAR regional NSAP personnel.
The project developer continuously expands the system’s capability, adds more functionalities based on suggestions, and puts together innovation based on the modern standard.
