Thirty members of the BBJ Agri-Fisheries SLP Association received post-harvest equipment and training from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) XI, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XI, through its Sustainable Livelihood Program on Monday, April 8, 2024, in Davao City.

This initiative aims to promote thriving livelihoods and improve socio-economic conditions for vulnerable sectors, representing a joint commitment by both agencies to uplift local communities and foster inclusive growth.

During the ceremony, the association received essential post-harvest equipment, including a solar dryer, sealing machine, knives, aprons, plastic trays, chopping boards, hairnets, among others, alongside training on the production of tilapia lamayo and dried fish. These resources will enable members to kickstart their operations, effectively manage their livelihoods, and ensure the quality of their fishery products.

Renee Enriquez, OIC RFTFCD representing BFAR XI’s OIC Regional Director Relly Garcia, emphasized the importance of maximizing the use of the provided resources to benefit the association and the wider community.

“Akong gina-awhag tanan miyembro ug opisyales sa BBJ Agri-Fisheries Sustainable Livelihood Program Association nga tipigan ug paningkamutan nato nga mulambo ug mulahutay kini na proyekto, kay kini para sa inyong kaayohan ug kalampusan,” Enriquez said.

Enriquez also commended the dedication, resilience, and determination of the association members, highlighting that their success is not solely dependent on the provided tools but on their commitment as beneficiaries.

“Madasigon kami sa gobyerno na nangalagad aron pinaagi sa atong pagtinabangay, mahimo kamo na malampson na mga agri-fishery entrepreneurs ug makab-ot nato ang panan-awon na nakalakip sa AmBisyon Natin 2040 na Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay para sa matag Pilipino,” Enriquez said.
