Renowned artist Kublai Millan, an icon in the world of Philippine art, takes the lead as the head mentor in a recently conducted 2-day mural painting activity titled “Patak SEAning” for BFAR XI personnel.

This activity, held as part of the 60th Fish Conservation Week’s opening, aims to foster camaraderie as well as inspire a sense of responsibility among BFAR XI personnel toward preserving fisheries and aquatic resources.

BFAR XI Regional Director Raul Millana emphasized the power of art as a tool for advocacy and education.

“We hope to be reminded of the message of fisheries conservation every time we walk down the BFAR XI hallway and understand the vital role of the community in protecting our fisheries and aquatic resources,” RD Millana said.

Eden Millan-Baisac, one of the 47 personnel who joined the activity, shared her experience during the event.

“Thank you, BFAR XI, for this activity because it honestly relieves stress, and I discovered that I have a talent for painting,” she said.

The mural painting activity brought together BFAR XI personnel, including both non-artists and some artists. They were pleasantly surprised to create a vibrant and visually stunning mural that now adorns the BFAR XI hallway.

Enrica Patricia Araullo, OIC-RFTFCD, highlighted that the activity is just the beginning of a broader collaborative effort.

“Kublai Millan, Founder of Lawig-Diwa Inc., partnered with BFAR XI to introduce art to fishing communities, providing alternative livelihood for our fisherfolk,” Araullo said.
