๐ƒ๐จ๐ง ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐จ, ๐ƒ๐š๐ฏ๐š๐จ ๐Ž๐œ๐œ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฅ, ๐€๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Ÿ‘, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‘โ€” In a significant stride towards poverty alleviation and food security enhancement, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR XI) through the Provincial Fisheries Office (PFO) of Davao Occidental, officially launched the Phase 2 of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program in collaboration with Local Government Unit (LGU) of Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental.

The SAAD Program is a testament to the commitment of both the government and the local entities. It aims to uplift the marginalized fisherfolk communities by providing intensified livelihood assistance. Extending its services to the municipalities like Don Marcelino in Davao Occidental, SAAD Program continues to be a beacon of hope and progress for those who need the most.

During the momentous event, Municipal Councilor and Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries, Jorge Gildore, emphasized the significance of the program for the people of Don Marcelino.

โ€œSAAD gi pangako na sa atong goberyno sa atua, kung ang goberyno ni saad sa ato, kita pud mo saad na atong ampingan ang proyekto na ilang gi hatag. The launching was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, such as SAAD Assistant Alternate Focal, Provincial Fisheries Officer and Staff, Municipal Agriculturist and Staff, representatives from the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAGRO), and SAAD beneficiaries, particularly the Cabilon II Laborers Association and Maliada Fisherfolks Association. Their collective participation shows a shared commitment to capacitate, develop, and uplift the lives of fisherfolk within the region.

As Phase II of the SAAD Program kick-off, the bureau and its partners reiterate their dedication to fostering sustainable development, driving positive change, and nurturing the growth of vibrant coastal communities. This collaborative effort manifests a potential transformation that can be achieved when government, local units, and communities unite for a common goal.

The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-BFAR SAAD) Program Phase 2 aims to contribute to poverty reduction and improve the living conditions of vulnerable fisherfolk and their communities by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities and support for poor fishing sectors.
