Kiblawan, Davao del Sur–BFAR XI recently initiated the momentous launching of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase II in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.

The SAAD Program Phase II, a flagship initiative of DA-BFAR, aims to reduce poverty incidence and enhance food security by providing comprehensive support to marginalized fisherfolk.

During the ceremony, OIC Regional Director Relly Garcia, emphasized the importance of the SAAD Program in empowering marginalized sectors and promoting equitable development.

“The SAAD Phase II Program is a testament to our commitment to uplift the lives of marginalized fisherfolk. Our objectives are clear; that is, to empower our beneficiaries by providing comprehensive support, including trainings, inputs, and technical assistance. Thus, through this program, we intend to enhance livelihood support, promote sustainable fisheries, and foster social equity “, Garcia said.

As Phase II of the SAAD Program unfolds in Kiblawan, key implementers remain committed to work hand-in-hand with local stakeholders, communities, and beneficiaries to ensure its successful implementation. By harnessing the power of collaboration and innovation, the program aims to create a lasting impact, fostering economic growth and prosperity for all.

Present during the event were local government officials and representatives from the Provincial Fishery Office (PFO), Office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPAG), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), and local community members particularly the Kiblawan Tilapia Raisers Association to witness the inauguration of this significant initiative that aimed to boost fisheries development and improving the lives of fisherfolk in the region.

The DA-BFAR SAAD Program Phase 2 aims to contribute to poverty reduction and improve the living conditions of vulnerable fisherfolk and their communities by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities and support for poor fishing sectors.
