A financial literacy training program for the 23 members of the Cagangohan JP Laurel Fisherfolk Association was conducted by BFAR XI on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

The training, which utilized real-life scenarios through an interactive Fish N’ Learn game, aimed to equip the fisherfolk with the necessary knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions and improve financial well-being.

During the training, the participants learned about basic financial concepts such as budgeting, saving, investing, and nurturing oceans and resources. They also learned about the different financial services available to them, including insurance, savings accounts, and expanding income sources through entrepreneurship. Through interactive games and exercises, the participants were able to apply what they learned in a fun and engaging way.

The training program was further bolstered by the presence and support of the BFAR National Fisherfolk Director, Mr. Ramir Rendon, and the Regional Fisherfolk Director, Mr. Judith B. Castres. Their participation highlighted the significance that BFAR places on empowering fisherfolk communities through Mangingisdang Direktor Program initiatives.
