DAVAO CITY –

Earlier today, BFAR XI opened the annual celebration of Farmers and Fisherfolk Month. The event was highlighted with the installation of Regional Fisherfolk Director (RFD) Judith B. Castres who shall assume the role of a BFAR Regional Director for the whole month of May. During the same period, the BFAR Regional Directors in their respective regions will function with the RFDs in the immersion.

In his speech, Mr. Castres emphasized his noble commitment towards his fellow fisherfolk, cognizant of the enormous task that goes with his installation. For the whole month of May, he will be actively involved in the agency’s fishery law enforcement operations, fingerling dispersal and distribution, conduct of livelihood trainings, information, education, and communication (IEC) activities.

The annual installation of the Fisherfolk Director is intended to further enhance the fisherfolk empowerment and participation as government partners and draw awareness on the vital role of farmers and fisherfolk as pillars in the government’s poverty alleviation program.
