Tagum City Launches Tagumpay River Cruise
Tagum City launched the city’s newest tourist marvel, the Tagumpay River Cruise, last December 23, 2021. In a simple launching and blessing ceremony, the city flexed its latest attraction. The cruise gives spectacle to an eco-tourism approach to fisheries management by amalgamating mangrove protection, milkfish brood stock production, red tilapia ranching, and mud crab fattening. A sequence of cultural musical shows of indigenous peoples serenaded the duration of the cruise.
Part of the project was funded by Tagum’s Prize of two million pesos as regional winner of Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK) 2017. MMK is a search aimed at recognizing outstanding initiatives and contributions of coastal communities/cities to the country’s sustainable fisheries development program by the Department of Agriculture through the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
