125 hito growers receive CC black nets
September 17, 2020
DAVAO CITY—BFAR XI distributed a total of 6,885 meters of CC black nets to Los Amigos hito growers who were affected by the flood last month.
The distribution today of the nets was part of the commitment of BFAR XI to mitigate casualty or damage if another flood hits in the future. With this intervention, hito growers in Los Amigos will have become more equipped when unfortunate floods hit their fishponds again.
According to PAG-ASA, more rains should be expected as the country enters the La Niña phenomenon.
BFAR XI prioritized the distribution of the said nets to help them fortify and develop their ponds first as unforeseen floods might wash away both their remaining and newly-distributed hito fingerlings.
Present during the distribution today were Mr. Jose Longno, Jr. of the City Fisheries Office, Mr. Pedro Cabang, Jr. of the Municipal Agriculture Office -Tugbok District, Ms. Aimee Evora of the City Agriculture Office - Fisheries Resource Management Services Division, Brgy. Captain Roberto Ballarta of Barangay Los Amigos, and Dir. Alfeo G. Piloton of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources XI.
This intervention was also in support to "Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat kontra sa Covid-19" Program of the Department of Agriculture. (IEC)
