The City Health office of Davao, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Department of Agriculture Frontliners (BFAR, Bureau of Animal Industry and Bureau of Plant Industry) and the Department Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) were gathered at BFAR Regional Office XI for the ceremonial turn-over.
It was last November 9, 2021 BFAR XI First Border Inspector Marlon A. Teves, together with the Custom, Immigration, Quarantine and Security (CIQS) Team boarded a vessel at Davao International Container Terminal (DICT) for inspection.
Upon the review of the cargo manifest, the CIQS Team had to hold for alert a container van declared to have contained frozen malt for further investigation.
In November 11, 2021, the Bureau of Customs- Customs Intelligence and Investigation Services (CIIS) found out that the importer committed misdeclaration considering that the container van actually contained frozen frigate tuna as verified by Fisheries Quarantine Officers. It was recommended to confiscate the commodity for disposal.
Based on the samples taken, BFAR XI certified that it is fit for human consumption.
