BFAR XI CONDUCTS 2020 YEAR END ASSEMBLY OF FLA HOLDERS

DAVAO CITY—A series of annual assembly of lessees of Fishpond Lease Agreement (FLA) was conducted by BFAR XI’s Fisheries Management Regulation and Enforcement Division (FMRED) in various provinces in Region XI.

The annual assembly aims to refresh the existing leaseholders of the salient provisions pertaining to the Fishpond Lease Agreement under Fisheries Administrative Order 197-1, as well as, developments and memorandum issued in relation thereto. At the same time, the said assembly served as a venue for the leaseholders to raise questions and queries regarding their lease and occupation.
For this year, the series of assemblies was spearheaded by Mr. Relly B. Garcia, FMRED Chief, Mr. Eduardo W. Ogong, Jr., Outgoing FLA Focal, Atty. Joanna Karla P. Guilonsod, RN, BFAR XI Legal Unit Head/Incoming FLA Focal, respective Provincial Fisheries Officer, and FMRED and Legal Unit Staff, namely, Remle Anne Estacio, Sarah Jane Porras, and Edgar Allan Zorilla.
The annual assembly for Davao Occidental and Davao del Sur FLA leaseholders was held last September 17-18, 2020 at Digos City. The said activity was followed by the annual assembly for Davao Oriental leaseholders last October 6-7, 2020 at Mati City. For its final leg, the Annual Assembly for Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro and Davao City leaseholders was held on October 8-10, 2020 at Tagum City.
The Fishpond Lease Agreement is an agreement entered into by and between the Secretary and a qualified applicant for the use of developed public fishpond areas, which is aimed at providing economic assistance to beneficiaries and ensuring food security across the country.
