๐ƒ๐€๐•๐€๐Ž ๐Ž๐‘๐ˆ๐„๐๐“๐€๐‹, ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“ โ€“ The Governor Generoso Federated Association (GFFA) of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, officially received a livelihood package for Bangus (Milkfish) Culture project under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2 for FY 2025. The ceremonial turnover was held on May 28, 2025, at Barangay Tamban, Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.

The livelihood package, which costs Php 1,854,780.00, includes 1 unit of HDPE cage with complete inputs (10,000 pieces of Bangus fingerlings and 450 bags of Bangus feeds), 1 floating caretakerโ€™s hut, 1 harvesting bamboo raft, 1 solar panel with a weighing scale, and fifteen (15) sets of multiple handlines and tuna handlines. The project basically aims to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities and contribute to poverty reduction among marginalized fisherfolk.

In addition to the provision of materials, the association also received training on Bangus production, which focused on proper management practices using the HDPE cage. The training likely covered essential topics such as stocking, sampling techniques, feeding management, and other key aspects of successful aquaculture operations.

During the ceremonial turnover, two major activities were undertaken to mark the official launching of the HDPE Cage Project. These included the stocking of fingerlings into the newly installed cage, symbolizing the beginning of aquaculture operations, and the formal acceptance of the project by the beneficiaries and key stakeholders.

During his acceptance speech, Mr. Argie L. Comahig, Chairperson of the GFFA expressed his gratitude for the received project.

โ€œIsip chairman sa association, kame mapasalamaton nga modawat niini nga proyekto sa BFAR SAAD, in behalf sa akong mga kauban, kini nga proyekto amo gyud ni syang ampingan, alagaan aron sa umaabot nga panahon, kini makahatag sa amoa ug dugang nga incomeโ€.

(As chairman of the association, we are grateful to receive this project from BFAR SAAD. On behalf of my colleagues, we will truly take care of and nurture this project so that in the future, it can provide us with additional income.)

These interventions intend to complement the DA banner programs and assist beneficiaries in establishing community-based fishery enterprises. The BFAR-SAAD strives to enhance food security and promote economic growth in targeted areas across the Philippines.
