The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region XI, through its Fisheries Production and Support Services Division, today, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Filtai Agri-Marine Corporation to provide 300 pieces of milkfish broodstock for hatchery operations. The broodstock, consisting of 240 females and 60 males, will be transferred to Filtai Agri-Marine Corporation’s farm located at Brgy. Caliclic, Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte.
This partnership aligns with BFAR’s mission to increase fish production, ensure food security, and promote collaboration with the private sector through public-private partnership (PPP).
The MOA was signed by BFAR XI Regional Director, Relly B. Garcia and Dennis Ching Seung of Filtai Agri-Marine Corporation. The signing was witnessed by Mr. Hung Chi Keung of Filtai Agri-Marine Corporation and Mr. Aylwin N. Ventura, Provincial Fisheries Officer of Davao del Norte.
Technical personnel from BFAR XI’s Fisheries Production and Support Services Division and the Bato Multi-Species Hatchery were also present to discuss the transportation schedule and procedures for transferring the broodstock from BFAR XI’s culture development site to Filtai’s hatchery facility.
This project is expected to significantly contribute to the region’s fry production, meeting the growing demand for milkfish fry in Davao Region.
BFAR XI welcomes collaboration with other private sector partners to further develop the region’s milkfish industry.
