The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region XI successfully conducted a two-day Orientation, Troubleshooting, and Maintenance Training on the Port and Coastal Monitoring System (PCMS Type II) at the Davao del Norte State College Training Hall on October 17-18, 2024. This initiative, part of the Integrated Marine Environment Monitoring System (IMEMS) project, aimed to enhance participants’ technical expertise in operating and maintaining this critical tool for coastal conservation.
The PCMS Type II is designed to monitor and assess port and coastal areas by providing real-time data that aids in detecting environmental changes and identifying potential hazards. This information is invaluable for informed decision-making and effective conservation efforts.
Engr. Ralph Rainer P. Ignacio and Mr. Patrick John I. Gaspi from BFAR’s Central Office, led the training, providing in-depth discussions and hands-on exercises. Participants, including BFAR XI personnel and representatives from the local government units (LGUs), gained practical experience in real-time monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the PCMS Type II.
The training successfully equipped attendees with the necessary knowledge to manage the PCMS Type II, further supporting marine conservation efforts in the region.
