BFAR XI’s Technology Outreach Station (TOS) in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro conducted a three-day Hands-on Training on Improved Excel 2016 Tilapia Hatchery Operation and Management on October 21-23, 2024.
Ten participants from both private and government-owned hatcheries joined the training. Addams Haven Tilapia Hatchery sought a refresher training, while Anderlude Seafood Corporation, Crizel Tilapia Hatchery, Banaybanay Tilapia Hatchery and Lupon Tilapia Hatchery aimed to meet accreditation requirements for their satellite hatcheries.
This activity aims to empower stakeholders in the tilapia industry by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to improve their hatchery operations and maintain a consistent supply and production of high-quality tilapia fingerlings in the region.
The training was conducted in collaboration with the Provincial Fisheries Offices (PFOs) of Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, and the City Fisheries Office of Davao City. A team of experienced resource speakers from the TOS including Maricel Antiga, Marche Monteron, Crispolo Carpentero, and Alemar Amar, shared their expertise with the participants.
