๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐ – To enhance its communication efforts and ensure broader program outreach, the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program Phase 2 in Region XI recently conducted a Basic Multimedia and Development Training from October 9-11, 2024, at Mikoโs Place, Puan, Davao City.
The 3-day activity was designed to equip participants with essential multimedia skills as part of the SAAD Programโs efforts to enhance its communication strategies, increasing its visibility and better connection with a wider audience, leveraging multimediaโs power to deliver compelling messages across various platforms.
The activity featured experts from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), who shared their expertise on creating impactful multimedia content. Resource speakers Julius Caesar D. Monrandate, Immardelle Van M. Lasquite, and Niรฑa Jessica E. Crisanto led participants through workshop sessions, focusing on the basics of using multimedia tools for more effective communication.
The participants were introduced to photo and video editing using the Canva, an accessible tool for designing visually appealing content. The interactive workshops enabled participants to apply their new skills, fostering engagement and creativity.
In her opening remarks, Regional BFAR-SAAD Assistant Focal Sharon M. Baidiango emphasized the importance of effective communication to the success of any project, especially in programs like BFAR-SAAD Phase 2.
โWith the rise of multimedia platforms, it has become essential for us to leverage visual and interactive content to promote SAAD Program Phase 2 activities, share outcomes, and engage with a wider audienceโ, Baidiango said.
Attending the activity were SAAD personnel from the Regional Program Management Support Office (RPMSO), Area Coordinators, SAAD Admin staff, and representatives from Multi-species Hatchery and Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division (RFTFCD).

The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-BFAR SAAD) Program Phase 2 aims to contribute to poverty reduction and improve the living conditions of vulnerable fisherfolk and their communities by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities and support for poor fishing sectors. These interventions intend to complement the DA banner programs and assist beneficiaries in establishing community-based fishery enterprises. The BFAR-SAAD strives to enhance food security and promote economic growth in targeted areas across the Philippines.
