Digos City, Davao del Sur – On September 11, 2024, a strengthening workshop was held in Digos City. The event brought together elected officials of the Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Councils (MFARMC) of Davao del Sur and fisheries technicians from different municipalities across the province.

The workshop, conducted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) XI in partnership with the Province of Davao del Sur, aims to empower fisherfolk in Davao del Sur to actively participate in fisheries governance. The training focused on parliamentary procedures, resolution-making, and proposal drafting, equipping participants with the tools to effectively engage in policy-making and strengthen their voice in decision-making processes within the fisheries sector, ensuring their perspectives are heard and considered.

By empowering fisherfolk with the necessary skills and knowledge, this workshop represents a significant step towards ensuring the sustainable and responsible development of the fisheries sector in Davao del Sur.
