Six elected fisherfolk leaders recognized as Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) Officers, assembled on August 21, 2024, for a FARMC Strengthening activity in Cateel, Davao Oriental.
Facilitated by BFAR XI in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cateel, Davao Oriental, the initiative aimed to enhance the capacity of small-scale fisherfolk in Basic Parliamentary Procedure and resolution-making. The goal was to empower them to actively engage in decision-making processes within the fisheries industry.
Attendees were provided with informative sessions that covered the brief background of FARMC, as well as about the levels of development. These sessions aimed to effectively address the challenges, issues, and concerns faced by the participants.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) XI and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cateel reaffirm their commitment to collaborate with the Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Management Council (FARMC) to amplify their influence, deliberating on pertinent issues concerning food security and the sustainable management of fisheries resources.
