On August 29, 2024, the BFAR XI—Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division, together with the Provincial Fisheries Office of Davao del Sur, participated in the National Housing Authority People’s Caravan at the Municipal Hall Compound, Poblacion, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur, with the theme “Serbisyong Dala ay Pag-asa.”
As part of the activity, the BFAR XI personnel conducted hands-on training on post-harvest technology and value-adding to fifty-two (52) NHA beneficiaries from the different barangays of the municipality. The training aimed to educate the participants on the importance of post-harvest technology, develop value-added products, and learn fish preservation methods. Additionally, the BFAR XI distributed IEC materials such as fish recipes and brochures on hito and tilapia culture and management to provide information and equip participants with a fundamental understanding of fish farming and processing.
Overall, the training equipped the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to engage in fish farming and processing, contributing to their livelihoods and having sustainable food sources.
