BFAR XI recognized and awarded certificates of recognition to 14 fisherfolk leaders today, May 28, 2024, marking the culmination of Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month. The event brought together former regional fisherfolk directors, provincial fisherfolk representatives, and BFAR XI personnel.

Mr. Riel Abellana, the Regional Fisherfolk Director, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the government’s support and interventions in uplifting the lives of farmers and fisherfolk.

“Pinaagi sa pamuhunan sa atong gobyerno ngadto sa modernong teknolohiya, pinansyal nga tabang, ug mga programa sa pagbansay, gidala namo kanunay ang atong kakayahan ug panginabuhi ngadto sa mas hingpit nga kalamboan (Through government investments in modern technology, financial assistance, and capacity-building programs, we have continuously enhanced our capabilities and livelihood towards greater progress),” RFD Abellana said.

During the ceremony, accomplishment reports were presented, and pressing issues and concerns were discussed, which will be advocated during the upcoming National Meeting of 2024 Fisherfolk Directors in Quezon City.

In a culmination message delivered by Ms. Sharon M. Baidiango, OIC FPSSD, on behalf of Mr. Relly B. Garcia, OIC Regional Director of BFAR XI, the agency reaffirmed its commitment to implementing programs and projects that alleviate poverty and strengthen the fisheries industry.

BFAR XI remains dedicated to supporting and empowering fisherfolk, ensuring a more prosperous future for all.
