The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region XI (BFAR XI) conducted a monitoring and evaluation activity for 29 fisheries scholars at the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) in Malita, Davao Occidental on June 3, 2024.

BFAR XI Regional Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP) Focal, Ms. Reissa Tarazona said this activity aims to measure the impact of the program, assess the academic progress, and overall well-being of the scholars.

“We are committed to their success as they are the future of our fisheries sector,” Tarazona said.

In addition, updates about the ongoing amendments of the Program such as increase in the monthly stipend, other scholarship benefits and support services were presented.

The scholars expressed gratitude for the ongoing support and welcomed proposed amendments that could enhance their educational opportunities.

BFAR XI continues to prioritize future fisheries professionals by developing deserving fisherfolk children, honor students, and indigenous peoples through FSP. This year, new scholarship applications are now being accepted for the upcoming academic year.
